Photovoltaics, commonly referred to as PV, produce electricity when the sun shines on them. They have been commercially available since the early 70's and have proven to be a reliable source of clean energy, many producing for more than 30 years. Solar panels contain no moving parts and require no scheduled maintenance. With newly revised TAX INCENTIVES, installing a PV system on your home or business has never made more sense.

Taking charge of your own energy production has many benefits, not the least being a reduction or elimination of your monthly utility bill. Installing PV also reduces environmental impacts associated with power generation, decreases our national dependence on foreign oil, and adds value to your property. A solar system can be installed in almost any application imaginable and is always tailored to your energy needs. These systems fall into three main categories: grid-tied, grid-interactive, and off-grid.

Grid-tied systems tap directly in to your existing electrical distribution network and offset a portion of your usage. The DC electricity produced by the panels is fed into an inverter that converts and conditions this power to match the AC power delivered by the utility. The power produced will either serve loads you are using or feed back into the grid when production exceeds your needs. At these times your meter will even spin backwards! Because no storage batteries are employed, if the utility grid goes down, so does your PV system. Today, this type of system dominates the market because they are cheaper and easier to maintain than those using batteries for back up.

Grid-interactive and off-grid systems use storage batteries to capture solar energy production, and serve as a back-up source of electricity should the grid go down for the former, or in the absence of the grid altogether as in the latter. These systems are typically installed in areas with an unreliable grid or in places where extending the grid would be cost prohibitive. If you want to completely sever your ties with the utility company, an off-grid system is for you! Battery systems are more expensive to install and they need to be maintained on a regular basis.

Whatever system fits your needs, you can be sure that we will work with you every step of the way to ensure you get the maximum performance and value from your investment. Please CONTACT US today to discuss your renewable energy future.
